Memories Highlight Award Festivities

Carter, WI (Mar 1, 2008): Families, friends and sponsors all gathered together at the Indian Springs Lodge in Carter (WI) on Saturday night to honor the competitors of the Langlade Speedway in Antigo from the 2007 racing season. The crowd was treated to one of the most enjoyable banquets in recent memory, chalked full of memories and laughter.

The evening began with a short visit by Tribal Chairman, Phil Shopodoc, who unfortunately was unable to stay due to a bout with the flu. Pleased with the layout and direction of the evening, the Chairman left the festivities in good hands as the evenings blessing was conducted by Joe Haferkorn, who was also celebrating 40 years of racing. Tom Schaal Enterprises hosted the evenings hospitality room, greeting early arrivals for the second straight year.

Annual special packs the house at Langlade County Speedway!
(Antigo, WI.) October 5 & 6th, 2007
196 cars checked in as Friday night heat races got a late start thanks to a last minute shower which put a brief delay in the racing action. The delay left time to pay tribute to two local drivers, Tracy Wassenberg and AJ Diemel who both claimed victory in National competition last month at the IMCA SuperNationals and the Wissota 100.

Remington Claims Showdown Victory - Banks $300!
Antigo, WI (Sept 14, 2007): The Forest County Potawatomis Summer Sizzler, presented by One Prospect Technologies has traditionally hosted the special grudge race dubbed the Race Truck/Street Stock Showdown. The 2007 version had even more incentive than the larger purse. It carried a $500 bonus courtesy of the FATTFRO Challenge. The question became, who would qualify and then take the challenge? Running as a single division all night and with starting posistions based solely on the luck of the draw, it gave fans of regular night racing at the Langlade Speedway a different perspective on the two evenly matched divisions.

Harold Harvey took home the first heat race as the UTRA Truck division flexed its muscle this year. Carl Christjohn gave Harvey a run for the checkered but came up just short. Track Champion in the truck division, J.P. Remington, then backed up the division by winning the second heat race. Once the lineup was set, it was time for the Challenge. Harvey had first shot at the challenge, but came up short, as did Remington. Christjohn, who is racing for the Relay For Life Foundation, then pulled out the question, Are You Ready For The Challenge?, to which he responded a resounding YES to the cheering crowd. In a gesture of great sportsmanship, Harold Harvey then upped the ante by pledging his winnings as well to the Foundation if Christjohn could pull off the victory.
